Centre for Evidence-based Veterinary Medicine

Promoting the awareness and use of evidence-based principles within the veterinary profession.

CEVM website

There are 5 steps to Evidence-based Veterinary Medicine:

Identifying the right questions that veterinary surgeons need answers to.

Acquiring evidence on the subject of interest.

Appraising the literature for quality and identifying sources of bias that may affect the believability of the results.

Applying the evidence to veterinary practice, where appropriate.

Assessing whether the application of the new evidence has affected the outcome of interest and improved patient outcomes.

For EVM to work and be useful it needs to start (Ask) and finish (Apply and Assess) in practice.
